3 Idiots!!!
The collaboration between Raju Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra has given the year's biggest box office hit "3 Idiots".
The movie is a fiction based on Chetan Bhagat's bestseller "Five point Someone".
The story revolves around 3 friends Farhaan Qureshi(Madhavan),Raju Rastogi(Sharman Joshi)and Ranncchoddas Shamalaldas Chanchad aka Rancho(Aamir Khan).
The trio set off to make their destiny with country's premier engineering college.
While the rest are mugpots who come to college to only study study and study,Rancho distinguishes himself and outstands the crowd.
The man loves machines and experiments his interest in it and astonishingly succeeds each time.
The bad man of the movie Viru Sahastrabuddhe aka Virus(Boman Irani) who is the college director dislikes rancho for his unconventional methods of learning.
He thinks rancho only creates nuisance and breaks rules.
But all time sayer "All is well" guy silences virus by topping the college each time.
He falls in love with his daughter Pia Sahastrabuddhe (Kareena Kapoor).
New comer Omi Vaidya as Chatur Ramalingam aka Silencer, is also one to look out for.
Now what happens next is best kept in suspense and better to watch.
I have no words to describe Amir Khan.He is simply uber superb.Mr perfectionist leaves you craving for him more with his omnipresence.
Kareena Kapoor is a superb actress and is turning beautiful day by day.Iam sure with movies like kurbaan and this one she has a whole new set of fan following her.
Madhavan and Sharman are too superb. You will love them for their comic timings.
Boman Irani is superb and a specialist at his performace.
the music is already hit specially numbers like All is well and Zoobi doobi.
Cinematograpgy is great.
The Movie has whole lot of fun and comedy to see and also teaches us some good lessons in life.
All i would say is "All is well".

Who will be Eliminated?
After the nomination of Raju,Bindu and Pravesh, the situation in the house has become tensed. Fierce fights are happening between Pravesh and Bindu.
The task of a ruler has caused Poonam to go to jail which was very insulting for her. It is tough to say which groups are formed in the house. But Bakhtiar, Aditi and Claudia seem to be in one group. About others nothing can be said as they keep changing sides. I feel this friday Pravesh should really as his presence has spoiled the atmosphere of the house. Raju will be safe surely since he entertains people and about Bindu, he is a nice person with a clean heart but a bad tongue. I will surely vote for Bindu as I want Pravesh Out. SMS VIN to 56222 to save Bindu.

Tum Mile
After Jannat debut director Kunal Deshmukh's is back to limelight with his romantic love story Tum Mile starring Emran Hashmi and Soha Ali Khan.
The story revolves around the floods that hit city of Mumbai on 26ht July 2005.
Caught amidst this natural calamity is an estranged couple who once were in beautiful relationship 6 years back until they meet now.
Emraan an aspiring but struggling artist falls in love with Soha a rich and beautiful writer for a youth magazine.
Under Odd Circumstances the two decide to put their career ahead their love and decide to end their relation.
Soha’s loneliness and crave for love and care is very beautifully portrayed.
How two peoples ego and silence if not let go on time could grave love forever can also be seen.
Although I must say the flood discussion in at the height of climax fades away at the backdrop and the story ends.
Cinematography is great especially South Africa is beautifully shot.
Music by Preetam specially. tum mile and tu hi haqeeqat are beautifully soothing and peaceful numbers.
Emran Hashmi at his best like always. Soha Also has done justice to her character and looks beautiful.
I would rate it 2.5 and would say can be watched once.

Chintu Ji
Rating 2.5/5
Chintuji is about a village Hadbahedi, where the residents are extremely nice and uncorrupted. The people are in need of a popular face, to spread the values of the village, across India. When they discover that the village is Rishi Kapoor's birth place, they send him an invite. Rishi (also known as Chintu in real life) accepts the invitation and decides to fight the election for the people. While the villagers do everything they possibly can, to please the superstar, he is lured by the rival village with a tempting offer. While the movie is slow paced and some of the sequences unnecessary, Chintuji works at most times. The movie reminds you of those innumerable serials on television in the 80s and early 90s. A touch of emotions in a light hearted fun film, is quite enjoyable.

Wake up Sid
Date Seen: 15/10/09
Rating: 4/5
Review/Synopsis:
Add some more freshness in terms of simple screenplay and dialogues and fantastic visuals - that's Wake Up Sid!! And the former sentence is not criticism but actually a complement. Cause all the movies are so great and is treating little bit similar subject that comparisons will definitely be there. But still, the movie stands on it own.
Its a story about Siddharth Mehra a spoilt brat living without any inhibitions. He gets to learn his lessons when he fails in life for the first time. And as all know, failure is a key to success [yup, the line is overused, but...] Konkona plays Aisha a girl who wants to be independent, on her own, and that's why she has come to Mumbai. I think this role looks a bit like extension to her role in Luck By Chance. Many sequences do remind me of that. But all is forgiven though. Cause it is not intended.Movie deals with the fine line area of getting matured suddenly after fun years of college. It is hard for many people. Including me. I and most of us have that Sid inside them, which never goes out. 'Sid' tells them to do whatever they 'want' to do in life. But the fact is, that most of us end up doing the regular stuff cause its 'life' that doesnt allow us to do so. Also in other case shown here, some spoilt brats are fed with silver spoons that they cant see harsh realities, making them hiding from it. I don't care attitude developes there. Ranbir shows this mixed bag dillema quite well. I liked his earler both movies too, not a big fan of him but yes, he does act well. He is so sweet as Sid. Who is outspoken, tells whatever he feels.Though Konkona is playing a little similar role to LBC, she is really good. I know this is a regular complement for her. Cause she is so consistent. Please give her all awards yaar, cause this year she has been so fantastic. [so was she in Metro too..]. How more 'droolable' it can get then having Koko on Marine Drive to chat with?? :)Supporting actors -friends -Naved (Namit Das) and Nikki(Shikha Talsania) and Anupam Kher are quite ok. But Supriya Pathak won me over her touching performance. A mom who tries to learn English, just to befriend with her son! Loved her.A huge credit goes to the production design [Amrita Mahal Nakai]. The movie looks Fantastic on screen. Thanks to cinematography Anil Mehta for some fabulous shots of Mumbai - the good 'old' mumbai. Baylon Fonseca's out and out fabulous sound design makes it worthy too. Dialogues and screenplay has kept the movie surprisingly simple. There aren't any preachy lines or typical situations which one expects from such movie. And that makes worthy. Overall treatment by Ayan Mukherji -the director is quite well handed, that it doesn't look like a first timer's flick.[correct me if i m wrong] Amit Trivedi works WONDERS with his awesome background score. There are so many tracks in the movie which are not there in the Album. I loved all of them. I hope producers will come out with Background score CD too. The melodious 'Iktara' comes in a Punjabi version too. Its absolutely heart warming. Loved all the moments involving the song. And how can I forget my fav SEL! Their songs fits perfectly in the movie. They truly are the Guitar Kings of Bollywood. All in all, its one heart warming story which inspires you without being preachy. Not a 'great' stuff but, nice commendable honest effort which haven't gone wrong.
Verdict: Must Watch it!!

"Wanted" is an old-fashioned bone-cruncher with guns and goons creating a kind of orchestrated anarchy that was done with far more elan in "Ghajini".In "Wanted", the violence is far cruder and guttural. The hero is on a sort of society-cleansing spree where the mode of conduct adopted by the villains and heroes become the same

Rating 4.5/5
Kaminey, (In english, it means Rascals. No.. not you…) - the movie, is finally here to make you shiver. Vishal Bharadwaj made an attempt to brings Hollywood to Bollywood, remindful of the rashness of Quentin Tarantino’s action thrillers which slings the viewer into the dark, violent world of crime and criminals, leaving you no time to blink or breathe easy. Moreover its certainly a film for the people with above average intelligence to understand the script of the film. For others, its a messy dish with bitter taste, at least for first 10 minutes when the movie begins.
The Story:
Charlie & Guddu (Shahid Kapoor in double role) are twins. Guddu is a NGO worker, who stammers while speaking. While Charlie lisps Guddu has stuttering problem, and can’t stand each other. One fateful night Charlie gets sucked into a deadly get rich quick scheme, while Guddu realizes that the love of his life, Sweety has put a price on his head. It’s all about how the brothers, sucked into a world of drugs, guns and money tackle gangsters, rebel soldiers, rogue politicians and crooked cops while protecting themselves, their dreams, and their love.
Kaminey is about twin brothers Charlie and Guddu (Shahid Kapoor in double role), both of whom suffer from speech impediments and they hate each other.
Guddu is a NGO worker, who stammers while speaking. He is of common man type with straight-forward attitudes who prefers to live a peaceful, non-violent life. He is punctilious and has life plans made till 2014 on a chart pasted in his cupboard.
Guddu realizes love of his life with his girl friend Sweety (Priyanka Chopra) who is the sister of a Underworld Gangster cum Politician, Bhope (Amol Gupte). Guddu’s all plans are shattered when he impregnates Sweety and suddenly marries without knowing that she is the sister of Bhope.
Charlie is a small gangster, who pronounces the alphabet ‘S’ as ‘F’. Charlie is totally opposite to Guddu in every aspect of life except one thing, stammering problem. He steals a guitar containing cocaine worth 10 crore from a bunch of currupt cops on streets. Then he thinks he has finally made it to the big league.
What happens next is a gripping journey through Mumbai streets surrounded with many Kamineys like corrupt policemen, drug dealers, henchmen, informers and agents. Finally the two brothers though having separate story lines meet at a point in film and they are forced to come together however they hate each other.

Love Aaj Kal
Date Seen: 02-08-2009
Director : Imtiaz Ali
Cast : Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Rishi Kapoor, Rahul Khanna, Raj Zutshi, Vir Das, Giselle Monteiro
The movie attempts to answer the above question by example. The questioner here is Jai Vardhan Singh (Saif) who’s living in the UK, dreaming of working for the Golden Gate Company in San Francisco, and in the meanwhile trying not to “pile-on” to beautiful girls. While trying the whole “don’t mean to pile-on, but” routine, he meets beautiful Meera Pandit (Deepika). They hit it off, which subsequently leads to a relationship. When their careers dictate that they move to different countries, they part amicably, and move on with their lives . . .
This film with it’s dual-track love-stories falls strongly into the romance genre. However it’s not your frothy, bubbly romance, a la “Jab we met” , but more of a tale of “difficult” love - i.e.; finding “The One”, and on finding him/her (if you do), the more onerous task of knowing if this is it. Our protagonists Meera and Jai really don’t have a clue; they don’t appear to have thought that far.
Saif plays two characters in the film, that of suave city-boy Jai, and also that of the young Sardar Veer. He looked quite a “natural” Sardar, and even managed the Punjabi accent ably. Overall his performance was energetic, enthusiastic, and if not immaculate, really quite decent. Deepika is quite good as Meera. Meera is an unconventional Bollywood heroine, in that she is smart, has her wits about her, and is calm and reserved by nature. Thus, Deepika seemed a good fit for this role, although her monotonous dialogue delivery didn’t actually light up the screen in the first half of the movie. Her acting style is rather understated, which kind of works here, because that’s who Meera is.
The film when it started, presented the Jai-Meera story in a flurry of quick, short takes - I could just imagine the director yelling “Cut“ after every 10 seconds. Until about the interval, this was how it went, kind of abrupt, and cryptic - made me feel like I was getting the compressed version of the story. But post-interval Ali seemed to get his act together, and the squiggly little pieces of the plot seemed to come together and flow. Thus while I was beginning to have my doubts in the first half of the film, I must say I was floored by the second. The characters are hard not to like, and Meera’s predicament had me shedding a few tears of my own.
“Love Aaj Kal” is a film well worth your time.

PERFECT MISMATCH
Anubhav Anand - Aman
Nandana Sen- Neha
Anupam Kher- Mr. Bhalla
Boman Irani- Mr. Patel
PERFECT MISMATCH, honestly, is a complete mismatch. The story is just not convincing and what makes matters worse is the fact that the lovers don't do a thing to bring the two warring papas together. Frankly, this one's an amateurish attempt.
Baring a few individualistic sequences, nothing works in PERFECT MISMATCH. The differences between the two fathers(Booman Irani And anupam kher) are too trivial and flimsy. The lovers (aman and neha)realise that their respective fathers don't see eye to eye, but they don't do a thing to iron out their differences.
At the end both father realizes thier love is great in front of thier differences and they patch up. What a waste. The movie is seriously a mismatch.
Jashnn
Rating 3/5
Bhatt ji's another drama in which Guitar-slinger Akash wants to be a star. And he sets out on his journey, aided and abetted by reluctant sister Nisha, and loyal girl-friend Sara.
For a film about music and musicians, it is surprisingly light songs-wise. It’s the performances which keep you going. Adhyayan is much more sure-footed here than he was in his last outing ‘Raaz 2’, where he competed with Kangana and Emraan, and came off a poor third. Anjana gets more to do than just show off burnished shoulders: she plays both girl-friend and let-me-be-free-to-lead-my-life sister. movie is a nice lesson for all the struglers, you have to work real hard and never lose hope, to win the ultimate race.

Shortkut
Short Kut was not a bad film to begin with . It was probably a terrific idea for a comedy of misguided zeal.
In the absence of motivated mirth the comedy just plunges out of control navigated, as it is, entirely by the considerable comic capabilities of Arshad Warsi.
Sankat City
Sankat City starring Anupham Kher is a good watch. Its action + drama + comedy.Kay Kay is simply superb while Rimi gives her best performance till date. Her constant Bengali banter is cute. Anupam Kher is top class. Chunky Pandey in a double role is hilariously good.

Dhoondte Reh Jaoge
Producer: Ronnie Screwvala
Director: Umesh Shukla
Music Director: Sajid, Wajid
Rating: 2/5
Date See: 29/05/2009
The con of the movie is very simple. Anand Pawar (played by Kunal Khemu, who is still trying to find a foot hold in the industry) and Raj Chopra (played by the comedy king Paresh Rawal) look forward to become millionaires in the shortest time possible and so they raise Rs 100 crores from various financers to make a movie in a budget of mere 5 crores only. They wanted the film to be so pathetic that it gets chucked out from the theaters on the very first day and is termed as one of the biggest flops ever made in the Bollywood. And, once it so happens, they would run away with the remaining 95 crores.
In order to make a flopbuster, they rope in Aryan Kapoor (Sonu Sood) as the lead actor, and Parvez Asharraf (Johny Lever), a Pro-Pakistan person, is hired as the writer. However, somewhere down the line, Anand becomes greedy enough to cheat on his own girlfriend Neha Chattopadhayay (Soha Ali Khan), a small time theatre actress, by casting her as the main lead in his film to get her over the acting bug. However, the premier show, which was supposed to be a tryst with tomatoes and eggs, turns out to be a heavily applauded affair. Audience get to have a hearty laugh at the ungodly mix of Sholay, Gadar and Lagaan.
Director, Omesh Shukla has managed to carry out the spoofs quite convincingly, and the actors have done their best to capture the expression and style of the original actors. The movie offers a much needed break from the stress and strains of out daily lives.
99
Date Seen: 12/05/2009
Directed : Raj Nidimoru & Krishna DK
99 is not emphasized on the burglary, rather it is taking up more intersting storylines including Gamble and Match Fixing. And that too, in rather funny way. The story is about Sachin [kunal Khemu] and Zaramud (!!!) [cyrus broacha] - two dropout techies, making their living by 'mis'using technology back in days of Y2K !! Somehow they get stuck at AGM's [Mahesh Manjrekar]- place and both 'has' to do stuff [money recovery] they don't like. On this way, they got to meet Rahul [Boman Irani] who also has stuck in net of AGM. And hilarious roundup of fate and luck starts from here. The movie is set in year 1999-2000. When the technology was about to get a kick start. The 'super fast' 56 kbps cybercafes were rage [yes, it IS in the movie] and the mobiles !!! Aah, the 5510, 3310 & 3315 !! Their Musical tones. And this era is brilliantly created by the guys [Rajeev Ravi] in the movie. Even in the first scene itself, an Aamir Khan poster shows up in faded light. [Now if you have seen the movie, tell me what movie it was??] And in another scene, we see 'Raju Chacha-the most expensive movie ever' Poster. Loved this small small details taken care off. [Art direction: Pradip Redij] Most fabulous was the Mobiles. At many parts, mobile phones and talks about it, got me stomach-ache. So funny each situation is shaped around. And quirky one liners about them. Dialogues are also fabulous as the screenplay is. Absolutely fresh and clever one liners I could find here. Sample this, 'If she is Neha, then you must be Pooja, right??' [cause, in Delhi, every girl is named either Neha or Pooja :D] And its no surprise, that all dialogues are CLEAN. cause its written by a girl: Sita Menon. And thats what I loved more. Cause I was feared that the movie can go so much the 'vulgar comedy' way, given the storyline, but kudos to the team, this one is so clean and family comedy.
All in all, this is a movie, you can not miss at any cost. A perfect movie for vacation, to go with friends. And kool off in the hot summer.

Prison Break Grand finale
Well, this is depressing news. A new short review for the final moments of Prison Break suggests that the audience might be very unhappy. Here's the review:
It always seemed like the worst thing that could happen with a television series was for it to end without a proper finale. There may be something worse. The two-hour series finale of "Prison Break," to air at 8 p.m. Friday, wraps up events that have unfolded during the show's four-year run on Fox. But the ending is grossly unsatisfying.
"Prison Break's" first season was masterful. It featured a complicated story line about genius brother Michael Scofield (Wentworth
Then the brothers escaped and the quality began to fade until eventually the series ended up in a muddled mess of backstabbing in this fourth and final season. While this past year has been a chore to watch because of the illogical twists and turns, the promise of a proper finale was appealing.
Fox has asked that no specific details of the two-hour finale be revealed. Fine. It would be unfair to take away the fun that comes with each revelation. It is safe to say that the battle between the brothers and their psychotic mother (Kathleen Quinlan) is wrapped up. More mercifully, the silly battle over the device known as Scylla comes to an end. And the fate of all of the supporting cast is revealed. There are even a few surprises. You'll just have to watch to find out the details.
The fact there is a final chapter to "Prison Break" is great. It is the epilogue to that ending that is so infuriating. Television viewers are asked to invest in characters. We grow to like them. That relationship is important for a show to keep going past a few episodes. This finale makes me wish I had stopped watching "Prison Break" after the first season. What happens is hard to explain without giving away key plot points. All I can say is it is a slap in the face. It's criminal when a series that started so strong leaves viewers with such an unappealing ending

Fast and Furious 4
Rating : 4/5
Front man Paul Walker returns for his third run as Brian O’Conner but is absolutely upstaged by Vin Diesel’s Dominic Torretto character. The addition of original cast members Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez, as well as new comers John Ortiz, Laz Alonso, and Gal Gadot, keeps the temperature turned up the entire movie. Surprisingly, there’s actually a pretty good plot twist as well.
Other than the “original parts,” the main thing I noticed is that the movie actually tried to be a movie. It toned down the gearhead speak and didn’t try to establish street cred with a plethora of car terms. That being said, it is still Fast & Furious. The car driving scenes are intense but still have the cheesey cuts to in car trash talking that has been a calling card of the series. The soundtrack is amazing. Worth a watch
Ek: The Power of One
Rating: 3/5
Ek: The Power of One also does not look as a very promising film.Director Sangeeth Sivan has experimented with Bobby Deol and Shriya Sharan in the film Ek: The Power of One. Bobby Deol had a role which was similar to the ones he had played in films like Badal and Bichoo. He had been hired by a CM aspirant to shape an assassination and gather sympathy from the voters. But the killing happened in reality and Bobby Deol had to hide and fled to Hoshiarpur. He entered a Punjabi House and pretended as the lost son. Over there he got involved with local problems. There were greedy farmers who wanted to grab the land of the relative of Bobby Deol by force. So he got a scope of showing his action skills in that part. The only interesting part of the film involved the investigation carried out by Nana Patekar in respect of the killing of the CM. It has been seen in the past that whenever powerful actors were given smart scripts they changed the mood of the film. The best example can be Om Puri’s performance in Bobby Deol’s film Gupt. He accelerated the pace of the film and countered the aggressive performance of Bobby Deol. The same thing happened in this film. Nana Patekar had created interest in the minds of the viewers from the time he stepped in. The film also got pace and direction. Shriya Saran did well but the script did not have much for her.In a nutshell the film does not have the masala to end up being a blockbuster. Bobby Deol desperately requires a super hit film to remain in the elite list where he was at the time of release of films like Gupt or Soldier. These days action films are not doing well, so in that perspective, if the film does moderate business it is fare for the producer and director.
Firaaq
Date Seen: 13/04/2009
Rating 3.5/5
Shocking, disturbing and thought-provoking, Nandita Das’s movie Firaaq touches a raw nerve. Admittedly a work of fiction claimed to be inspired from thousands of true stories, ‘Firaaq’ (meaning quest, or separation) mirrors the gruesome reality of the Gujarat riots in which many Muslims and Hindus were slaughtered. ‘Firaaq’ provides us a peek into the after effects of the riots by taking us into the minds of the characters that populate its parallel stories. The gravity of the subject is established in the opening reel when a truckload of dead bodies are dumped into a mass grave. A homeless boy Mohsin wanders the streets in search of his Abu. A middle-class housewife Aarti ( Deepti Naval ) battles her guilt of having shut the door on a desperate Muslim woman pleading for life. A Muslim-Hindu couple, Sameer and Anu, ( Sanjay Suri and Tisca Chopra ) grapple with the altered reality of their surroundings and plan to leave the city. A group of Muslim men gang up to take revenge. An ageing musician Khan Saheb ( Naseeruddin Shah ) is unable to comprehend the senseless violence and massacre. Two sahelis, Munira and Jyoti ( Shahana Goswami and Amruta Subhash) manage to stick together in the environment of communal hate and suspicion. With calculated restraint, sensitivity and subtlety, ‘Firaaq’ tells the story of these characters in a bid to rattle the conscience of the viewers and make them realize the horrendous crimes that took place in the Gujarat of 2002. However, it needs to be said that some might find the film one-sided because it repeatedly portrays the victimization of Muslims – be it a cop telling a Sameer Shaikh (Sanjay Suri) to buzz off to Pakistan, or a local resident dropping a heavy stone slab on a man’s head just because he is a Muslim. But all in all, Nandita Das does a fairly decent job of telling a multi-layered story with seamless clarity. The performances are top notch, particularly by Deepti Naval, Shahana Goswami, Naseeruddin Shah and Paresh Rawal , who plays a middle-class, anti-Muslim Gujarati trying to cover up the rape committed by his young brother. Looking beyond the film’s theme, ‘Firaaq’ is a cinematic gem with excellent cinematography (Ravi Chandran), well-penned screenplay (Nandita and Shuchi Kothari) and evocative background score. Despite its somewhat narrow perspective, it’s a film made with conscience and noble intention, as reflected in a scene in which Raghuvir Yadav (a domestic help) tells Naseer that Muslims are being killed. Naseer replies: “Insaan Insaan ko maar raha hai, gham toh iss baat ka hai. A statement that entreats us to see humans beyond their religions, it pretty much encapsulates the soul of ‘Firaaq’. Definitely worth a watch.

The Stoneman Murder
The main merit of the movie is that it straight away starts off with the main topic and sticks to its till the end. There are no deliberately added sub plots, songs or any comic scenes which make it more harsh, bold and impressive. The whole narration revolves around Kay Kay Menon, who is a suspended Police Inspector paying the price for his anger practiced in an interrogation. After his deferral, he is still investigating the Stoneman Case, privately on the instructions of his senior, Vikram Gokhale and also gets assistance by a Hawaldaar played by Virendra Saxena. His colleague inspector, Arbaaz Khan, who is more of an enemy, is also working on the same case creating troubles for KK. The movie is really nice and worth a watch

Australia
Directed by: Baz Luhrmann
Rating 3/5
Date Seen: 22/02/2009
I got 'Australia' from my friends. The movie was an amazing film full with drama, emotion, and epic visuals. Best thing about the movie was the bombing by Japan plane and the bull chase.
Nicole Kidman is very impressive, convincingly tough, emotional, and funny. The crude attack dogs that are out to get Nicole will be sadly disappointed at Kidman’s performance in ‘Australia’. Brandon Walters who played Nullah was clearly the star of the movie, holding the film together with an impressive first performance. Jackman however is perfect for the tough, rugged, but romantic outback Drover. The cynics and the darn right snooty bums of this world need to get over them selves. This film obtains some clichรฉ’s within the dialog and story elements, but I am afraid clichรฉ’s come from somewhere, and 1939 Australia is where they were born . The movie is not subsequence but the action and acting makes it good. Its worth a watch. This is a great film and people need to go out and see it.
Reader
Starring: Kate Winslet, Ralph Fiennes, David Kross, Lena Olin, Bruno Ganz
Director: Stephen Daldry
Rating 3/5

After Seeing Kate Winslet win the oscar for best acteress for the movie 'Reader' I wanted to see the movie . And I personally liked it. It is a movie that wants you to take it seriously as a profound discussion about complicity and moral obligation. The source of the movie is a novel by Bernhard Schlick, it was a critical and commercial success. In short, this movie so drips with earnest good intentions that the nobility of the exercise .
The movie plays, like the novel, in three parts. The first takes place in West Germany in the 1950s. A sixteen-year old school boy (an impressive David Kross) has an affair with a woman twenty years his senior. They enjoy each other physically but both are evasive. He tells her what she wants to hear - that he's not a star pupil. She tells him precisely nothing. She asks him to read aloud to her. He clearly enjoys the performance. And then, one day, she vanishes and he is devastated.
The second act takes place in the 1960s. The boy is a law student, and is taught to carefully separate moral responsibility from a narrow definition of legal guilt. He is disgusted to discover that his old lover is on trial for murdering Jews during the Holocaust and that he has evidence that will mitigate her sentence. He has to reconcile the woman he knew with the unfeeling, narrowly obedient and unrepentant woman he sees in court.
The third act takes place in the 1980s. The teenage boy has developed into a fastidious old man with a failed marriage and an estranged daughter. For a complex set of reasons he begins to record audio books and send them to his old lover. Maybe he does this out of misplaced vanity, maybe guilt, maybe nostalgia, maybe boredom, maybe a desire to connect with anyone - Ralph Fiennes' opaque performance gives us no help in making his motives out.
The characters rarely face off. They rarely confront or challenge each other. And because the film never risks disrupting the all-pervasive mood of stately good taste it struggles to shift into second gear. This movie is a good watch though.

Delhi 6’ is a story of love and self discovery set within the walled city of Delhi, which is a microcosm of India with all its chaos and contradictions.Sonam Kapoor as Bittu - Bittu is a vivacious and bubbly girl living in ‘Delhi 6’. She comes from a conservative family and wants to free herself from the typical Indian social structure. Amitabh Bachchan has a cameo appearance too. Abhishek Bachchan as Roshan an NRI from the US. His life is transformed when he comes to Delhi. Waheeda Rahman as Roshan’s grandmother - Ailing in her old age, she wants to spend the remaining days of her life in the city to which she is most attached –Chandni Chowk. But Abhishek doesnot like the place initially Story rotates on a kaala bandar. At first half kaala bandar is used for a laugh and second half kaala bandar is used as serious object, threatening sentiments of community. And ending is unexpected.

billu barber review
Director: Priyadarshan;
Rating: 3.5/5
Date Seen: 14/02/2009
Billu is a story of a down to earth village barber, Billu (Irfaan Khan). A man of principles, he is not willing to give up his values come what may even if it means his children are thrown out of the school or his earnings taking a beating. When the news comes out about Billu’s childhood connection with Sahir Khan, the villagers make a U-Turn in their behaviour towards Billu.
It is Based on Malayalam super hit Katha Parayumbol starring Mammootty. The whole film focuses on Irfan and he gives a fine performance as an unconfident simple and common man . He very well portrays the helplessness of the central character and the trials and tribulations he has to face for the sake of his family’s well being . LaraDutta looked really beautiful as the simple and beautiful village girl. Irfan and Lara looked good on screen and even their kids were great . The kids also acted really well and the entire family looked really good on-screen and looked very much real . Lara’s portrayal of a simple village woman was also really sweet and it was nice to see her in such a role .SRK also gave in a good performance and despite his small role he does good . The songs have no sequence they just pop in the movie.
Don’t go in expecting a full on SRK flick and you won’t come out disappointed. SRK has acted like he is greatest actor in world. Too much style. Billu has a good story to tell and is the kind of a film that brings a tear in your eye and at the same time a little smile on your lips .

Victory review
Director: Ajitpal Mangat
Date SEen : 04-02-2009
Rating 3/5
I personally liked the movies as it has to do with cricketer, Vijay ( Hurman) from small-town Rajasthan is so good that he should, by rights, have been in the Indian team. But, and this is a story we know well, he doesn't even get a look-in on the Ranji.
`Victory' is about Vijay's rise-fall-rise, the heady feeling of success, and the downfall.A greedy agent ( Gulshan) gets his claws into the rising star, who slides down the slippery slope of here-now-gone-the-next-instant-fame, forgetting those who kept him grounded, `deshbhakt' dad ( Anupam), and best bud ( Amrita).
A fleet of international cricketers like Harbhajan Singh and Jayasuriya and the dishy Brett Lee have quite a lot of screen time.
`Victory' has all the right intentions, but its execution is bland. The music is good and its worth a watch.

Luck by chance review
Star Cast: Farhan Akhtar(Vikram), Konkona Sen Sharma(Sona), Rishi Kapoor(Rummi), Isha Sharvani(Neena), Dimple Kapadia(Nikki), Hrithik Roshan(Zaffar),Juhi (Minty)and others; Director: Zoya Akhtar;
Rating: 4/5
Date Seen: 02-02-09After long time have seen a movie like this.Vikram Jaisingh (Farhan) comes down to Bollywood town Mumbai from Delhi to become a star. At Vikam's fellow struggle friend’s house he meets Sona (Konkona) for the first time. Sona too has dreams in her eyes of becoming a lead actress in an A grade film. For the past three years till then she has been living with this hope Taking advantage of her is Chaudhary a small time producer who has been assuring her of that one big break and in return of which he is sexually exploiting her and assigning her B grade. But finally she gets into movie line
Shankar Ehsaan Loy’s music is already climbing the charts and is well mixed in the film’s proceedings. Don’t miss the opening song sequence.
Konkona delivers an award winning performance which comes in your mind for a long time even after the film is over. Farhan is extremely natural in his act and has brilliantly underplayed his part. Rishi Kapoor and Juhi give able support.
Luck By Chance is quality cinema that takes you straight into the heart of the Hindi film industry’s functioning, showing you both the good, the bad and the ugly side of it and yet keeps your love intact for the film industry . Really nice movies, though not good as his first picture. Rock on!

Raaz The Mystery continues
Star Cast: Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan SumanDirector: Mohit Suri;
Rating: 3 - Succeeds in spooking you.
Date Seen: 02-02-2009
Yash (Adhyayan) and Nandita (Kangana) is a couple deeply in love. While Yash is heads a successful reality show on TV called Andhavishwas which exposes superstitious beliefs in India, Nandita is a successful model. One evening Nandita realizes that a stranger (Emraan) is following her. The stranger then manages to encounter her in her building lift. He introduces himself as Prithvi and shows her the paintings he has drawn of her. What has him intrigued is that though he had never seen her before, he has drawn her many portraits including one which shows her lying in a pool of blood. He tries to caution her about something evil about to happen to her soon but she ignores him. But from then on, strange things start happening her as if she has been possessed by an evil spirit. What twists and turns follow next form the rest of the film.
Full marks to Mohit Suri for making that one kick-ass horror thriller which can easily put on par with Hollywood’s best in terms of plot, setting, technique and acting. Though the initial few minutes appear dragging with a slow pace, the film takes your grip, once Kangana gets possessed. There are sufficient twists and turns plotted at just the right juncture to give you shocks. The suspense too is well maintained right till the climax. Generally Bollywood horror films tend to have lengthy and at times unconvincing flashbacks to support the happenings but thankfully in here the flashback is not only slickly shot but is also right in length and very convincing. The camerawork by Ravi Walia deserves special mention especially for night shots which are aplenty in the film. He has succeeded in creating the right eerie atmosphere. The song are well placed too and thankfully few.
Mohit has gone right in the casting as well. Emraan is just perfect for the part and his expressions speak a lot. It is not the same Emraan you have been seeing till now. Kangana enacts her part well and succeeds in getting your sympathy. Adhyayan shows remarkable improvement as an actor from his debut film.
The film is a definite must watch, it delivers more than it promises. Not only it is way far better than the first Raaz, it is that one good horror film, that Hindi horror film fans have been deprived for a long time now since Bhoot. Go for it and be prepared to be spooked.

Chandini Chowk to China Review
Date seen: 19-01-2008
rating 2.5/5
Cast Akshay Kumar and Deepika
Director Nikhil Advani
Nikhil Advani’s barmy musical Chandni Chowk to China is the very first Bollywood kung fu action comedy — an inspired mating of the biggest box-office draws in Asian cinema, the Bollywood romance and the old-fashioned Hong Kong martial arts movie. The fact that Advani ends up with a two-and-a-half hour Adam Sandler movie is horrifying.
Chandni Chowk is so thoroughly absurd I can hardly bring myself to describe it. Akshay Kumar (India’s Sandler) is a humble potato peeler in a backstreet stall in Chandni Chowk, Delhi. His father boots him in the backside for being an idiot and he lands two miles away in front of a pair of Chinese tourists who think he is the reincarnated soul of a Chinese warrior god. The hapless clown is duly whisked off to a peasant village in China where he is expected to save the locals from a ruthless psycho, Hojo (Gordon Liu), who decapitates people with a bowler hat
